Fin Trenouth called up for England Under 19s

Somerset’s Fin Trenouth has been called up to join the England Under 19 One-Day squad for their upcoming series against India.

The 18 year old who joined the Academy in the autumn of 2016 made a name for himself when he hit an unbeaten 330 for Somerset against Hampshire Under 17s, last season.

This summer the forceful batsman has played for Somerset Seconds and also for Devon in the Minor Counties.

Regarding his call up Fin said: “It was quite unreal to get the call from David Graveney on Friday to tell me and I had to rush home and get ready to get myself to Cardiff.  It was completely unexpected, but something I’ve wanted to achieve for some time now and hopefully I get the chance to earn my first cap.

He added:” Even if not it’s still an amazing experience to be involved in the set up and work with coaches such as James Taylor and Darren Gough. We are only two days in and I have already learnt a lot and feel as though I am improving across all departments.”

Trenouth will be the third Somerset representative in the England Under 19 One-Day squad, joining Tom Lammonby and Tom Banton for the five match series.

Steve Snell the Academy Director said: “Fin is a powerful player and a lively character. I’m sure he will do everything he can to ensure he makes an impact on the one-day series against India.

“It is brilliant to have three members of the SCCC Academy in the Under 19s squad and a huge credit to the players on their continued development as individuals and cricketers.”

The fifth and final match in the England Under 19 series against India will be played at the Cooper Associates County Ground on Wednesday August 16th.
