Floodlights and 2019 shirts launched
This evening has seen history made at the Cooper Associates County Ground!
The skyline of Taunton has changed forever with the construction of our new LED floodlights and tonight they were officially switched on for the first time.
Around 2000 Members and supporters filled the Ground tonight to see this historic event and those present were treated to a spectacular light show which was choreographed to music in order to demonstrate the wide-ranging capability of the new lights.
In addition to this, the new Somerset CCC playing shirts for 2019 were launched to a positive reception.
After the light show, CEO Andrew Cornish, said: “This has been a genuinely amazing night and I think that seeing the lights in full flow has exceeded everyone’s expectations. They are truly spectacular, and everyone associated with the Club, the town and the county as a whole should be really excited about what these lights will bring to the area.
“On the cricketing front, they mean that we can play our Vitality Blast matches at times that better suit our huge fanbase. In addition to that, the economic benefits that the lights will bring will be enormous.
“To have so many people here to share this experience with us was outstanding and we all hope that this is just the start of a hugely memorable year for both the Club and the town.”
During the evening, the 2019 playing kits were also revealed.
Regarding the new shirts, Somerset CCC Strategy Director, Sarah Trunks said: “Once again we have worked closely with Shrey and Peloton Design to create a shirt that will really stand out on the field. The players have also had a huge amount of input within the design process.
“It’s vital that the players like the kit and the consensus in the dressing room is entirely positive. We had a lot of good responses from our Members and supporters tonight too, which was great to hear.”
