Governance Members' Forum on Sunday
In 2016 Sport England published a ‘Code for Sports Governance’, requiring sporting organisations within the UK to ‘have a clear and appropriate governance structure, led by a Board which is collectively responsible for the long-term success of the organisation’.
The ECB, in response to the ‘Code for Sports Governance,’ worked with representatives from across the game to develop a County Governance framework which was published in February 2020.
The framework, which is required to be adopted by all Counties, mirrors all sporting organisations across the UK in setting standards of good governance; requiring increased skills and diversity in decision making, ensuring accountability, greater transparency and constitutional arrangements that give Boards the prime role in decision making.
With this in mind, an independent member led review group have worked diligently to draft proposals, in a bid to ensure that Somerset County Cricket Club is in a position to be provide an effective governance structure, whilst maintaining our position as a strong Members’ Club.
In order to keep Members informed and to answer any questions that you may have, Somerset County Cricket Club will be holding a specific Governance Members Forum after day one of the LV= Insurance County Championship match against Lancashire on Sunday September 12th.
This will be held in the County Room, Colin Atkinson Pavilion, twenty minutes after the close of play.
In attendance will be SCCC CEO Gordon Hollins, SCCC Vice Chair Richard Brice, Chair of the Governance Review Group Chris Bishop, and SCCC Operations Director Sarah Trunks.
Questions should be submitted in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
In advance of this forum, Members will have be sent a communication from Club Chair, Gordon Baird which includes an update to the Proposed Governance Changes published in May 2021, along with the frequently asked questions we received with Members’ feedback. If you have not received this communication by close of play on Thursday and would like a copy, please email email@example.com.
