Henry Smeed joins the Academy
Henry Smeed will be joining the Somerset Academy this autumn.
The 15-year-old right handed top order batsman, who has also bowed right arm seam, has played throughout the Somerset age groups and been part of the Emerging Player Programme for the past three years.
Henry attends King’s College in Taunton and will play his club cricket for WEPL Premier One side Bridgwater in 2019.
2018 was a good year for Henry. He made numerous appearances in the Academy and U17 sides, with a stand out performance against Warwickshire U19s where he hit an unbeaten 99.
Henry also played in the Best of Bunbury team and represented the South West at the 2018 Bunbury festival. He led King’s College to victory in the National Schools Under 15s T20 Cup, in which he made significant contributions with the bat in the semi-final and final.
To cap off a successful year, Henry was also a member of the Bridgwater Red Sox team that lifted the Somerset Under 19 T20 cup.
After signing his Academy Agreement, Henry said: “I’m very happy to have joined the Somerset Academy this year. My ambition is to play cricket for Somerset and this is my next step towards achieving that.”
