ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 set to takeover Taunton
Taunton is all set for a cricket takeover this weekend.
On Sunday, The County Ground will host England’s third match of the tournament against Sri Lanka.
As if that wasn’t enough, cricket fans in Taunton will also get a chance to take part in cricket activities, when cricket comes to the town centre on Saturday. Between 10am and 5pm, Castle Green will have all manner of activities including kwik cricket, bat in the stone and points scoring games with chances to win tickets.
Reagrding this week’s events Tournament Director, Steve Elworthy said: “It was great to see Taunton host their first ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 match on Monday, with 700 school kids cheering on Australia and West Indies. The County Ground is set for a further two big matches this week, with more thrilling cricket on offer, including England’s match against Sri Lanka on Sunday. Ahead of the match, fans will be able to head to Castle Green on Saturday to practice their skills on various cricket activities.”
Councillor Mark Edwards, the Taunton Deane Portfolio Holder for Business Development and Events Champion said: “Taunton is delighted to have welcomed the Women’s World Cup and I hope as many people as possible support this International Sporting event taking place in our Town. In addition we have this fantastic event taking place in Castle Green on Saturday which is open to all and I am sure will be very popular”.
