Induction Workshop for Pathway Boys and Girls
Over 100 people recently attended an induction workshop for the parents of the Somerset Pathway Boys and Girls, which took place in the Long Room at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
During the course of the workshop session, Matt Drakeley (Performance Head Coach) and Sophie Luff (Women’s and Girl’s Performance Head Coach) talked about the Pathway and what opportunities both the boys and girls would be getting during this winter and what to expect during the summer.
In addition, there was also input from Darren Franklin, the ECB Regional Talent Manager for Girl’s Cricket, and Steve Williams who is the Boys equivalent, which gave parents helpful advice on what their children may experience as part of being involved with the Pathway Programme.
Sophie said: “Matt and myself have a very good working relationship. We bounce ideas off each other and discuss things that we’re doing. The boys and girls programmes at Somerset are now more aligned with each other than they ever have been, and I think it’s very important that both boys and girls have the same opportunities on the Pathway.
“The induction session was really good and it opened up our environment to parents, who have such an important part to play in the triangle that involves the players themselves and us because we are all working together for the best of their son or daughter.”
Matt said: “It’s always great to get so many parents in the room to hear about our vision for the Somerset Pathway and which experiences we are looking to give their children.
“We hope to increase the number of workshops we deliver to parents to ensure that they are well informed about what is going on within the pathway.”Back to News
