Jack called in to England Test squad

Jack Leach has been named in the 16-strong England Test squad for the three-match series in Sri Lanka which begins in November.

Jack returns to the squad for the first time since making his debut in New Zealand earlier this year.

After the announcement a delighted Jack said: “Obviously it’s a very proud moment for me and my family. I’m really excited and I hope the Somerset supporters will be too. I can’t wait to be a part of an England squad again.

“I had a missed call from Ed Smith and I thought I should probably give him a call back! I was really hoping to get that call and luckily enough I did.

“I went out to Sri Lanka with the Lions a couple of years ago, so I know what to expect. That’s the point of Lions cricket, to prepare you for future England tours. To now be going there with the full side is very exciting and I’m really pleased to get this opportunity.”

Moeen Ali (Worcestershire)
