Somerset County Cricket Club are seeking to employ a Commercial Sales Executive.


Somerset County Cricket Club is a highly successful and varied sporting organisation that hosts almost 50 days of First Class cricket and numerous conferences and events throughout the year as well as playing an important role in the local community. We have 5,500 Members and crowds of 7,500 supporters for some matches.

In 2019, the Coopers Associates County Ground will host three ICC Men’s World Cup matches following the highly successful International match held in 2017. The Ground is also utilised for many other events such as concerts and open-air cinema evenings.

The Role

Somerset County Cricket Club are looking for a pro-active Sales Executive to join our small and close knit Commercial Team. You will be working closely with our Head of Commercial Sales and our Commercial Partnerships Manager to effectively deliver the Sales Strategy in line with the Club’s targets and KPI’s. By primarily focusing on conference and events, club events and match day hospitality, the role will be varied and you will require effective communication across many departments.

The Person

We require an individual with fantastic communication and customer service skills as they will be proactively calling and meeting potential clients with the aim of converting them into sales. A confident go-getter, they must be professional and presentable and portray the high standards set by Somerset County Cricket Club.

Internally, they must have excellent communication skills and be willing to work as part of a wider team. They will have regular contact with all departments at the Club and must buy into our strong one-team ethos and camaraderie. During busy periods within cricket, they must be willing to step outside of their role and provide additional support where required, whilst also working evenings and weekends in line with our fixture lists and events.

This is a demanding but fun role and will be a crucial appointment within the business. There is a willingness and a drive to move the non-match day sales forward, so it is an exciting time to join the team.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • To be responsible for the proactive and reactive sales for Conference and Events, Hospitality and Club Events
  • Continuously add business leads into the sales funnel through cold calls, referrals and business publications
  • Assist with the implementation of the clubs advertising campaigns
  • Accurately record all data and bookings into our Internal Systems, ensuring an easy handover to our Event Delivery Team.
  • Accurately report on Commercial Sales in line with your set KPI’s
  • Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive, Head of Commercial or Head of Commercial Sales.
