Kasey proud of his England U19 performance

Kasey Aldridge was back at his home in Chew Valley at the end of last week.

The young paceman is taking a well earned break after enjoying a successful time with the England Under 19s in Bangladesh.

The tall right-handed opening bowler, who is also a more than useful batsman, played his club cricket for Brislington in 2018.

Kasey signed for the Somerset Academy in the autumn after enjoying a hugely successful summer on the Potential Somerset Player Programme and playing for the Somerset Under 17s.

He saved his best performance of the recent three-week trip until the last match of the tour, the second Under 19 four-day Test Match between the The Young Lions and their Bangladeshi hosts.

In the first innings the 18-year-old, who attends Millfield School, opened the attack and sent down 17.2 overs, three of which were maidens and claimed four wickets for 44 runs.

In the second innings he bowled a further 17 overs, with two maidens and ended with two for 79, giving him match figures of six for 123 from 34.2 overs.

Reflecting on his time with the Young Lions, Kasey said: “I was very pleased with the way that things went for me in the last game.

“When you are part of the England set up you feel that you have to perform. It was really nice to be able to give something back to the team, because everybody worked really hard on that trip.

“I worked a lot with Jon Lewis when I was out there and he helped me a lot with my run up.”

Looking ahead to the coming season, during which Kasey will be playing his club cricket for Bath, he said: “There is a tri-series this coming summer involving Bangladesh and India which I hope I will get chosen for, and in addition to that there will be a couple of training camps as well.”

As well as all the cricket, Kasey now has to concentrate on his A Level exams this coming summer.

“It’s back to school for a bit now to get my head down,” he said. “I feel pretty proud and very happy with what I have achieved with the Young Lions and I’m looking forward to more.”
