LBW Club Latest

Members of our LBW Club were given the VIP treatment during the recent Vitality Blast game against Surrey.

Members and their guests arrived at the Cooper Associates County Ground before the gates officially opened and were treated to a glass of Thatchers Family Reserve, and tasters from some of our catering outlets in our T20 fan village.

After a short time informally networking, those present were given a behind the scenes look at how a cricket bat is made!

Expert bat manufacturers Millichamp & Hall are based at the Cooper Associates County Ground and Rob Chambers explained to our guests the process behind making and crafting a bat and how it goes from willow tree to batsman’s best friend.

Members were then treated to a fish and chip supper in the delightful setting of Gimblett’s Hill, courtesy of our in-house ‘Great Catch’ outlet. A wide selection of Thatcher’s Cider and a Granny Gothard’s Ice Cream was also on offer.

From this vantage point our guests then enjoyed an unobstructed view of Somerset’s stunning eight-wicket win over Surrey.

Scarlett Scott-Collins from the Somerset Chamber of Commerce enthusiastically represented the LBW Club in the interval ‘Thatchers Apple Rolling Race’ and won herself even more Thatchers Cider!

Formerly known as the SCCC Business Club, Leading Businesses in the West (LBW) is designed to bring like-minded people from a variety of companies together through the business of sport.

The purpose of The LBW Club is to bring local businesses together so that they can meet, discuss ideas and make new connections.

The initiative has been revamped for 2019 in order to ensure that our Members gain even more benefits, and there are a number of exciting events planned throughout the year.

The next LBW Event is on Wednesday September 11th, day two of our Specsavers County Championship match against Yorkshire. The event will consist of a barbeque on the Thatchers Terrace for our LBW Club Members, their guests and also Official Club Partners. The same event last year coincided with the thrilling tie versus Lancashire, and this fixture against Yorkshire promises to provide much entertainment too!
