Lewis enjoys his week at SCCC
Lewis James has just enjoyed one of the best five days of his young life after a week of work experience at Somerset County Cricket Club.
The 14-year-old, who is in Year 11 at Heathfield School, is a cricket fan but even he didn’t expect his week to turn out as well as it did.
“It’s been a bit of a dream come true for me,” he said. “I’m a Somerset fan and have been coming along to support the County ever since I can remember.
“During the week I’ve done lots of different activities, including writing up an interview that’s appeared on the Somerset website, but the one I enjoyed the most was the time that I spent up in the media box with the press, radio and television people. It was a great place to watch cricket from and to hear people talking about the game.
“It’s a lot more relaxed than I thought it would be and I’ve enjoyed it very much. Everyone has made me feel so welcome. I’ve been impressed with the whole environment around the Club and everyone has been so friendly.”
As well as being a Somerset fan, Lewis also likes to play.
“I play cricket at school and I’m a bit of a bowler,” he said. “My Somerset hero is Max Waller and during my time here I have had the chance to meet him.”
Sadly his time at Somerset has come to an end and it’s back to school for Lewis, but before he left he said: “If I had the chance to come back, then I would certainly want to because I have enjoyed it so much.”Back to News
