Marcus launches MRI scanner appeal at Musgrove
After finishing his training on Wednesday morning, Marcus Trescothick changed into his SCCC suit and drove to Musgrove Park Hopsital in Taunton to help to launch the Love Musgrove appeal to raise £1 million to buy a new MRI Scanner.
Marcus received a warm welcome from the large crowd who had assembled in the entrance to the Concourse and said that he was always happy to support his local community in any way that he could.
The former England opener told those present: “Both of our daughters were born in Musgrove Park, and over the years many Somerset players including myself, have come to here for an MRI scan.”
He added: “I am delighted to have been invited to launch this appeal to provide a third scanner for the hospital. Keep up the good work and I hope we can help you to raise the money as soon as possible.”
The Love Musgrove MRI Scanner Campaign is seeking to provide the hospital with a much needed, brand new, high specification 1.5T MRI scanner. The two current MRI scanners work to full capacity seven days a week, and the Trust has to use external providers to meet the demand. By purchasing a third MRI scanner, Musgrove Park Hospital will improve patient experience, save money, continue to be able to take part in ground breaking trials and also continue to provide specialist treatments.
