Somerset Women v Cricket Wales: Honours even

Luff then fell lbw to Lauren Parfitt for 28 at 65 for three. That soon became 70 for six as the visiting bowlers took control. A late 20 not out from Joleigh Roberts helped to ensure that Somerset finished on 104 for seven from their 20 overs.
Cricket Wales opener, Parfitt then took charge and her 70 not out from 49 balls helped to ensure that her side reached their target for the loss of just three wickets with 17 balls remaining.

The hosts didn’t have to wait long for revenge, as they came out on top by the same margin in the second match.
Batting first, the visitors were limited to 114 for nine from their allotted overs. Parfitt top scored with 37 from 41 balls, but only three other batters reached double figures.
Hennessey was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 18. There were also two wickets each for Lorraine Szczpanski and Niamh Holland.
Hennessey and Luff again got Somerset off to a solid start and shared an opening stand of 46. Hennessey was the player to go for 26.
Luff went on to make an impressive 57* from 46 balls as Somerset cruised to victory for the loss of just two further wickets.
Somerset take four points from the match.
At the end of the day, Dave Roberts, Women and Girls Performance Manager said: “It was a tough day today, really hard work with the weather! I can’t believe we managed to get both games in!
“We struggled with the lack of pace on the ball in the first game and didn’t know what a good score was on the surface and Lauren Parfitt took the game away from us.
“Bowling first in the second game we restricted Wales really well, picking up wickets at import times. We chased the target comfortably with a couple of really good partnerships. Thanks to Weston for hosting us. We go again next week against Berkshire.
Somerset will be looking to maintain their good start to the season following last weeks double victory over Staffordshire when they take on Cricket Wales in two T20 matches at Weston-super-Mare CC on Monday (May 3rd).

Please note that this match will be played behind closed doors.
Somerset Women and Girls Performance Manager, Dave Roberts will pick the starting XI from the following squad:

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Ahead of Monday’s fixtures, Somerset Captain, Sophie Luff said: “We did well last week and it was really pleasing to see how well the girls performed. Different people put their hands up at different times and ultimately that’s exactly what you want. To start our campaign with two wins was exactly what we wanted.
“We’ve got such an exciting group of players. We’ve got some really talented girls and county cricket is a great place for them to showcase their skills.
“Wales are a good side and we’ve had some good battles with them over the years. Given the links with Western Storm both teams know a lot about each other and both sides will be looking to get one over on the other. There will be small battles within the bigger battle and that’s really exciting.”
Somerset will play a double header against Berkshire on Sunday May 9th at Bath CC.
