National County Fixtures to be played at the CACG

The ECB have confirmed that Somerset County Cricket Club’s National County fixtures against Cornwall on July 20th and Devon on July 22nd will now be staged at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

The decision has been taken due to the challenges that both National Counties may face in facilitating these fixtures.

Following this announcement, SCCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “As a Club, we can’t emphasise enough how important we believe these fixtures to be. We already have outstanding working relationships with both Devon and Cornwall and these competitive fixtures will only improve these partnerships.

“We are extremely pleased that the fixtures will go ahead, and it will be a privilege to host Devon and Cornwall at the Cooper Associates County Ground in July.”

Nigel Mountford, Chief Executive of Devon County Cricket Club said: “Whilst it would have been great to play this fixture at Exmouth, we fully understand the reasons for relocating this fixture. We are delighted that the match will go ahead, and it will be a great opportunity for our players to test themselves against some of the best players in the country at a First Class cricket ground.”

Joe Skinner, CCO Cornwall Cricket, said: “Whilst it is a shame that Cornwall won’t be playing Somerset County Cricket Club in Cornwall on the 20th, we remain extremely grateful that the game can be played. We know that our players will be looking forward to the challenge and to playing at the Coopers Associates Ground. We hope that, if allowed, people from Cornwall will attend.”

Further details of these matches will be announced shortly.
