Players back in training after winter break

The Somerset squad have been back in training this week following the Christmas break.

The players reported back for action on Monday and it wasn’t long before they took to the nets as Head Coach, Jason Kerr explains.

“The players worked incredibly hard up until the Christmas break,” he said. “That was mainly focused on strength & conditioning with some bespoke skills for individuals. Now that the majority of the group are back with us we’ve upped the ante and skills are now taking more of a priority.

“We started this week with a lot of one to one programmes and everyone has got clear goals that they’re trying to attain as we approach the start of the season.

“As a group we’re primarily concentrating on white-ball batting for the first couple of weeks. So we’re looking at power hitting, innovation and developing new skills. We’re really trying to stimulate some thought in the guys as to how they can develop as players.

“The engagement has been superb. Everyone has come back fully committed to what we are trying to do and it’s really exciting to see the guys starting to develop and grow ahead of pre-season.
