VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Ahead of this final pre-season match, Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr said: “Everyone is absolutely ready for what is our final opportunity to hone those skills ahead of the first game of the season. The reality is that you narrow selection down as you get closer that that first game, but we’ve still got three days of opportunities for the guys to present their case. The final XI for Hampshire next week certainly hasn’t been picked yet.

“In pre-season you need to make sure that you’re playing against quality opposition and that is certainly the case this week. There’s no points up for grabs but personal and professional pride means that there’s still plenty at stake.

“During pre-season we’ve some real growth and development as a squad and individually. The guys have invested a lot of time and effort into their work over the winter and it’s great to see that coming to fruition on the field even at this early stage.

“There’s a real confidence throughout the group at the moment. The players are developing all the time and their peers are supporting them and pushing them to get better all the time.”

NEXT MATCH

Somerset’s next match begins on Thursday April 7th when we take on Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl in the opening fixture of the 2022 LV= Insurance County Championship.
