SCCC - Coronavirus FAQs
Although the Office at Somerset County Cricket Club is now closed to the public, staff will still be working from home and will be available to answer telephone calls and respond to emails between 9am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
However, in order to reduce their workload, and to potentially save you time, we have taken this opportunity to answer the most frequently asked questions that we have received over the last few weeks:
Do we know at this stage what the 2020 season will look like or when it will start?
At this stage we are not in a position to know exactly what the summer programme will look like.
However, the ECB have now announced that there will be no professional cricket played until at least May 28th.
We have been in constant dialogue with the other 17 First Class Counties and the ECB to discuss the professional game and indeed the wider game at all levels and these conversations will continue in order to establish what the model for the 2020 campaign will be.
As soon as we have a greater degree of clarity regarding this situation, we will let you know via this website, across our social media channels and in our regular Members Newsletter email.
Whilst we all want to enjoy a summer full of cricket at every level, the safety of those who play, coach, work and watch the sport is of paramount importance.
How can Members and supporters keep up to date with developments at the Club during this time?
We will be constantly updating our website and social media channels.
As soon as there is anything new to report, you will be able to find out the very latest by visiting these channels. We also have a regular Members Newsletter email which will contain all the latest information.
A skeleton staff will be on site at the Cooper Associates County Ground to answer telephone calls and emails and staff working from home will also be answering the ‘phones.
How have the Club been dealing with the current situation?
In line with Government advice the Club have introduced a number of proactive measures during the last few weeks throughout the Cooper Associates County Ground in order to protect the health of our employees and visitors and to help prevent the spread of the virus.
These measures include, but are not limited to, additional cleaning services, the installation of further hand sanitisers in both public and private areas plus the addition of further information posters which highlight the current official medical advice for all those at the venue.
To reduce any risk, all our staff are now working from home. They are all still available to ensure that we can remain operational and therefore fulfill the needs of our Members and customers.
What are the players doing at the moment?
The players are continuing to train but, in line with Government guidelines, they are now doing this at home.
Each player has a bespoke fitness and nutrition programme which they are all strictly adhering to in order to ensure that they are ready for the start of the season, whenever that may be.
Obviously the health and wellbeing of everyone connected with Somerset CCC and their families is our highest priority.
Will the Club remain open?
It is important that we remain open in order to fulfill the requirements and needs of our Members, supporters, commercial partners, customers and guests. However, it is also important that we follow Government advice in order to maintain the safety of all the aforementioned groups plus that of our staff and their families.
Therefore, SCCC is following the below operating policy until at least the end of April:
- The Club Office in the Andrew Caddick Pavilion will be closed to members of the public until further notice. All staff will be working from home from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday in order to answer telephones, respond to emails and ensure that the Club continues to function as regularly as possible and with a minimal impact to our service levels. Please note that response times may be slightly longer, and you may be transferred to a staff member’s mobile phone.
- Our enquiries email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) will also still be operational and staff members will be tasked with answering any questions that you might have.
- Stragglers Coffee House will be closed until further notice.
- The SCCC Shop will be closed until further notice. However, orders can still be placed online via the SCCC Shop web site (https://shop.somersetcountycc.co.uk/). Please note that delivery time may be slightly increased due to our reduced staffing
- Any events that were due to take place at the Cooper Associates County Ground between now and the end of April have been postponed or cancelled.
These operating measures will be regularly reviewed and any updates on this situation will be posted on this website and across our social media channels.
It looks as though the cricket season will now be reduced. Will I get a refund on my Membership and tickets?
If you have purchased a ticket for a match that is cancelled, then you will receive a refund. Once the exact nature of the fixture list is known we will be in a position to consider the impact on our Members. We are a Members Club and as such your needs and concerns in this regard are one of our top priorities, so rest assured that this is never far from our minds.
We are in constant discussions with all the key stakeholders and as soon as we have a clearer picture of what the summer will look like, we can answer this question with a greater degree of accuracy.
I’m due to be attending/holding an event at the Cooper Associates County Ground soon. Will this be going ahead?
The safety and wellbeing of those due to attend events at the Club is of the upmost importance. Therefore, events that were due to take place at the Cooper Associates County Ground between now and the end of April have been postponed or cancelled. If one of our C&E Team hasn’t been in contact with you in this regard yet, then they soon will be. If you have any questions regarding an event, then please contact us and one of the team will be happy to discuss these with you.
If your question is not answered on this page then please do contact us on 01823 425301 or email email@example.com
