SCCC Host police volunteer awards

Somerset County Cricket Club played host to Avon and Somerset Police at their annual South West Region Special Constabulary and Police Volunteer Awards. The awards recognise the time, effort and invaluable contributions given by those who volunteer in policing across the entire South West region. The event was compered by former footballer and vice-president of Show Racism the Red Card; Leroy Rosenior MBE, and attended by police volunteers, police staff and senior officials from all South West constabularies.

Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Cullen praised the assistance and ‘can-do’ attitude of the Somerset County Cricket Club staff on the day, led by Anna and Sam.

“Your staff were attentive to our organisers, offering them drinks and refreshments when they were too busy to go upstairs to the Long Room. They immediately dealt with every issue raised, such as adjusting the room temperature and accommodating a short notice mealtime change. In particular, we would like to single out Anna, who we understand was facilitating such an event for the first time. We felt Anna’s support and friendly approach was a real asset.

“Numerous guests commented that the food was delicious and one of the attendees said that ‘the catering staff surpassed the quality’ he has had in many well-known and high-end hotels”.

Andy Marsh, Chief Constable for Avon and Somerset Police, commented: “It was a pleasure to welcome everyone to my home force and an honour to host this year’s South West Region Special Constabulary and Police Volunteer Awards ceremony.

“All of our volunteers are integral to delivering outstanding policing. We are immensely grateful for their dedication, skills and enthusiasm of our volunteers and these awards are an opportunity for us to pay thanks for the difference made by their actions.”

SCCC Hospitality and Event Sales Executive, Brian Lee, said “We would like to extend a huge thank you to Kate Masters for her help in putting on a superb day. It was a real privilege to look after the police volunteers celebrated at South West Region Special Constabulary and Police Support Volunteer Awards 2019 and thank them for their support in the community.”

“We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your day and we look forward to hosting you again when you are back in Taunton!
