SCCC to host special NHS Day
Somerset County Cricket are delighted to reveal initial plans for a special day to celebrate the efforts of the Country’s National Health Service.
Working with Love Musgrove and other local NHS Charities, the Club plan to collate fundraising efforts with an event at the Cooper Associates County Ground when safe to do so.
Central to this day will be limited edition shirts being worn by the Somerset players. The kit was designed by junior competition winner Tom, who submitted a concept that was chosen by Club Captain Tom Abell as the winning entry. In addition to the 500 sold through SCCC Shop, the player shirts will be signed and auctioned to add to the funds raised to this point.
The Club has so far raised over £4500 from the sale of the shirts, as well as significant funds in the Together Through This Test auction.
Somerset Chief Executive Gordon Hollins said: “We are delighted to announce initial plans for an event at the ground to pay tribute to our local key workers. Whilst we don’t know exactly when this may be able to take place, the ideas are certainly coming together and is a natural continuation from the release of our limited edition playing shirt. I know the Somerset players will be delighted to wear the shirt in some capacity and we hope to have more details on this over the coming weeks”.
For those who purchased limited edition shirts, these are expected to be delivered in early July and not late July as first mentioned.
More information about this event will be released in due course. Please keep an eye on this website and our social media channels for the latest news.Back to News
