Second XI Championship: Somerset v Sussex - Match Drawn
Somerset resumed on 440 for five on the final day of this three-day Second XI Championship match against Sussex at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
Dom Bess Retired not out on 68 and Somerset went on to make 525 all out, a lead of 180.
By the time lunch arrived Sussex had reached 30 without loss.
During the second session of the day Sussex openers Brandon Gilmour and Joseph Ludlow both reached the 50 mark as Sussex reached 127 without loss at tea.
After the interval Gilmour reached 95 before he was trapped lbw by Tim Rouse. Tom Clark then fell in exactly the same way to the same bowler to his first ball to leave Sussex on 178 for two.
Aneesh Kapil survived the hat-trick ball but shortly afterwards the teams shook hands as the match ended in a draw with Sussex on 182 for two.

Second XI Coach, Greg Kennis has named the following squad: Marcus Trescothick, Eddie Byrom, George Bartlett, Tim Rouse, Ben Green, Fin Trenouth, Dom Bess, Paul van Meekeren, Nathan Gilchrist, Will Smeed, Jack Leach and Ollie Sale.
Marcus Trescothick and Will Smeed both made centuries as Somerset’s batsmen dominated day two of this three-day Second XI Championship match at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
In the morning Sussex declared on their overnight total of 345 for nine.
Marcus Trescothick, making his return to the sport following a foot injury, and Eddie Byrom then shared an opening stand of 118 before the latter was dismissed for 53.
By the time the lunch interval arrived the hosts had moved to 140 for one.
After the break Trescothick reached three figures from 148 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 126 from 168 balls in an innings that included 18 fours.
When tea arrived Somerset had reached 308 for three with 16-year-old Will Smeed unbeaten on 74.
In the final session of the day Smeed went on to make his maiden Second XI century from 172 balls. He was eventually out for an impressive 116 which came from 191 balls and included 16 fours and one six.
By the close of play Somerset had reached 440 for five with Dom Bess unbeaten on 68.
Somerset are in Second XI Championship action when we host Sussex in a three-day match at Taunton Vale Sports Club which starts at 11am today.
Sussex won the toss and elected to bat.
Ollie Sale made an early breakthrough when Brandon Gilmour was caught by Jack Leach with the scoreboard showing just 11.
Tom Clark and Joseph Ludlow added 76 for the second wicket until Clark was trapped lbw by Dom Bess for 49.
At lunch the visitors had reached 125 for two.
After the break Ludlow fell for 61 when he was caught by Will Smeed from the bowling of Paul van Meekeren to put Sussex on 172 for three.
Just before tea Ben Green trapped Bradley Erasmus lbw for 30 and by the interval Sussex were 243 for four.
Five further wickets fell in the final session as Sussex closed the day on 345 for nine. Aneesh Kapil was unbeaten on 135.
