Second XI Pre-Season: Somerset v Cornwall

Somerset resumed on 74 for four on the second day of this two-day match against Cornwall at Taunton Vale Sports Club.

The home side eventually declared on 158 for six. Fin Hill top scored with 41.

By the time the lunch interval arrived, Cornwall were 15 without loss, a lead of 114.

The visitors declared at tea with the score on 125 for seven. Jack Harding was the pick of the Somerset attack with three for 33.

After the break, the day ended with Somerset on 88 for four as the match ended in a draw.

Somerset Second XI Coach, Greg Kennis has named the following squad: Josh Davey, Ollie Sale, James Rew (Academy), Josh Thomas (Academy), Archie Vaughan (Academy), Fin Hill (Academy), Noah Davis (Academy), Jack Harding (PSPP), Ollie Heard (PSPP), George Barlow (Exeter University), James Boyle (Exeter University) and Dylan Church (Exeter University).

DAY ONE

Somerset Second XI began their pre-season programme today with a two-day match against Cornwall at Taunton Vale Sports Club.

Cornwall won the toss and elected to bat.

Josh Davey struck with the fourth ball of the day when he had Ateeq Javid caught behind by James Rew with no score on the board. Cornwall recovered well as Karl Leathley and Scott Harvey took the score to 65 before the former was bowled by James Boyle for 15. By the time the lunch interval arrived, Cornwall were 88 for two.

After the break, Harvey reached 100 from 133 balls before retiring out on 108. A half century from Ben Ellis also helped to ensure that the visitors reached tea at 257 for nine.

Cornwall declared during the tea interval and by the close of play Somerset had reached 74 for four, trailing by 183 runs.
