Second XI T20 x 2: Hampshire come out on top

The Somerset Second XI are in action against Hampshire in two T20 matches at Taunton Vale Sports Club today.

Match One

The first match got underway at 11.30am and Somerset won the toss and elected to field.

Hampshire made 145 for nine from their 20 overs whilst Ben Green was the pick of the Somerset bowlers, taking four for 22 from his four overs.

Unfortunately the Somerset chase ended when they were all out for 119 after 17.3 overs.  Tom Banton top scored with 29.

Hampshire therefore won match one by 26 runs.

Match Two

Somerset won the toss and elected to bat.

By the end of their 20 overs Somerset had posted a total of 122 for five. Tom Banton top scored again with 68 from 51 balls.

Once again it was the visitors who came out on top as they reached their total for the loss of just three wickets. Calvin Dickinson top scored with 57 from 28 balls as Hampshire scored 128 for three off 16.1 overs.

The Somerset squad for these matches was: Johann Myburgh, George Bartlett, Peter Trego, Ryan Davies, Tom Abell, Tom Banton, Dom Bess, Michael Leask, Ben Green, Paul van Meekeren, Max Waller (capt), Ollie Sale and Nathan Gilchrist.
