Second XI: Somerset v Middlesex
Somerset began a Second XI County Championship match against Middlesex at Taunton Vale Sports Club on Monday.
Somerset resumed on 205 for one in their second innings on day four of this Second XI County Championship match against Middlesex at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
In the morning session Lewis Goldsworthy reached three figures (from 243 balls) and Dylan Church moved to his 150 but was dismissed four runs later at 274 for two. The pair had shared a second wicket stand of 258.
Will Smeed fell for nine, but by the time the lunch interval arrived the hosts were 309 for three, a lead of 247.
Somerset eventually declared on 359 for four, Lewis Goldsworthy remaining not out on 150.
By tea, Middlesex were 94 for two, trailing by 203.
At the close of play, the visitors had reached 159 for two and the game ended in a draw.
Middlesex resumed on 204 for four on the third day of this Second XI County Championship match at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
Marchant de Lange claimed four wickets this morning to ensure that the visitors were all out for 278, a lead of 62. The big South African finished with five for 41 from 19.5 overs.
By lunch, Somerset had reached nine without loss.
After the break, George Bartlett fell for one with the score on 16, but Dylan Church (56*) and Lewis Goldsworthy (37*) took the hosts to 103 for one at tea.
In the final session of the day, the pair brought up the 100 partnership for the second wicket from 260 balls.
Church reached his hundred from 240 balls and by the close of play Somerset were 205 for one, a lead of 143. The not out batsmen are Church (111*) and Goldsworthy (82*).
Somerset resumed on 149 for six on day two and were eventually all out for 216 courtesy of a rapid 31 from just 16 balls from Marchant de Lange.
By lunch, Middlesex had reached 33 without loss.
After the break, the visiting batsmen found the conditions to their liking and by tea they had taken the score to 155 for three.
Bad light eventually stopped play just before 5:30pm with Middlesex on 204 for four and no further play was possible.
Middlesex won the toss and elected to bowl.
By lunch, Somerset had slipped to 87 for five.
Kasey Aldridge and Archie Vaughan took Somerset to 136 before the former fell for 39. Vaughan (34*) was then joined by Josh Davey and the pair saw their side 149 for six.
The rain then began to fall and brought about an early tea.
Unfortunately, further rain curtailed any further action.
