Second XI T20: Essex v Somerset

Somerset play two Second XI T20 matches against Essex at the CloudFM County Ground today (Monday).

Match One

The first game, which was due to get underway at 11:30am, was delayed due to rain.

Essex won the toss and elected to field as match one got under way at 1:30pm and was reduced to 12 overs per side.

Somerset made 122 for seven from our 12 overs with Tom Abell top scoring with 39.

In reply Essex made 102 for five from their allotted overs. Dom Bess was the pick of the Somerset bowlers taking two for 18 as Somerset won by 20 runs.

Match Two

The second match gt underway at 4pm.

Essex again won the toss but elected to bat on this occasion.

The home side made 169 for five from their 20 overs thanks to 69 from Feroze Khushi and 50 from Aaron Beard. Josh Davey was the main threat for Somerset and he finished with figures of three for 37.

In reply Somerset reached 116 for nine from 16 overs thanks to 40 not out from Michael Leask as Essex won by27 runs (D/L method).
