Second XI T20 Friendlies: Somerset v Hampshire
Somerset Second XI are in action today when they host Hampshire at Taunton Vale Sports Club in two T20 matches.
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat.
Paul van Meekeren made an early breakthrough but Felix Organ and Sean Ervine took the score past the hundred mark.
Ervine was eventually dismissed for 61 from 39 balls when he was caught and bowled by Tom Abell.
Tom Scriven made 37 from 23 balls as the visitors posted a total of 199 for three from their overs.
Abell was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two for 24.
Eddie Byrom and George Bartlett put on 44 for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed for 16. Byrom went on to make 95 from 65 balls and Tim Rouse made a rapid 29. However, no other batsman passed the 20 mark as Somerset fell just short of their total, reaching 182 for seven as Hampshire won by 17 runs.

Hampshire again won the toss and elected to bat.
This time the Somerset bowlers were on top and limited Hampshire to 102 for nine from their allotted overs. Max Waller was the pick of the bowlers with three for 11. Dom Bess claimed two for 15 whilst there was a wicket each for Paul van Meekeren, Nathan Gilchrist and Johann Myburgh.
The Somerset batsmen reached their required total for the loss of just two wickets. George Bartlett top scored with 34 not out from 23 balls whilst Ben Green helped himself to 31 from 19 balls as Somerset posted 105 for two from just 10.3 overs to win by eight wickets.
