Second XI T20: Gloucestershire v Somerset
Somerset Second XI are in T20 action today (Wednesday) when we take on Gloucestershire in two matches at Rockhampton CC.
Somerset win by four wickets
Somerset won the toss and elected to bowl.
Nathan Gilchrist made an early breakthrough when he had Milo Ayres was caught by Tim Rouse with the score on 20. However, Michael Klinger (49) and Ian Cockbain (45) took the home side past the 100-mark.
Greg Willows made a quick-fire 21 as Gloucestershire finished on 141 for five. Ollie Sale was the pick of the Somerset bowlers with two for 32.
Somerset slipped to 21 for three but Tom Lammonby (42) and Rouse (44) got the visitors back on track. Ben Wells then contributed 22 from 15 balls and it was left to Jack Scrivens and Josh Davey to see Somerset to their target for the loss of six wickets with nine balls to spare.
Gloucestershire win by 32 runs
Gloucestershire won the toss and elected to bat.
Cockbain was in impressive form once again and his 91 from 53 balls was the cornerstone of the Gloucestershire total 177 for five. Nathan Gilchrist was the pick of the bowlers claiming three for 22 from his four overs.
The Somerset reply never really got going and they quickly found themselves 47/4 in the ninth over of the run chase. Despite a breezy 62 not out from Josh Davey that occupied just 44 deliveries, the innings ended on 145/7. This gave Gloucestershire victory by 32 runs.
