Second XI T20: Four in four for Kasey not enough for Somerset
Kasey Aldridge claimed four wickets in four deliveries against Glamorgan at Taunton Vale Sports Club today, but it was not enough to prevent Somerset falling to a three wicket defeat in the Second XI T20 competition.
Somerset won the toss and elected to bat.
The hosts lost a number of early wickets and at the end of the six over powerplay the score was 52 for three.
Unfortunately for Somerset only five players reached double figures and they were all out for 134 with one over to spare. George Bartlett top scored with 32 from 18 balls whilst Dan Douthwaite was the pick of the bowlers with three for 23.
With just seven runs of the Glamorgan reply on the board, Nick Selman was caught behind off Josh Davey for one. Aldridge then claimed two wickets with the final two balls of the fifth over when he accounted for David Lloyd (32 from 19) and Marnus Labuschagne (3) to leave the visitors on 39 for three.
By the end of the powerplay, Glamorgan were 53 for three.
Aldridge retuned to the attack and with the opening two balls of the eighth over he removed Chris Cooke and Kiran Carlson as the visitors stumbled to 58 for five.
Douthwaite and Colin Ingram added 33 for the sixth wicket but when both men fell Glamorgan were 107 for seven, requiring a further 27 runs from 5.2 overs.
James Weighell (25 from 17) and Andrew Salter (16 from 11) eventually saw the visitors over the line with 15 balls to spare.
