Second XI T20: Defeat for Somerset against Warwickshire

Somerset suffered an 86-run defeat against Warwickshire at Moseley Cricket Club in the Second XI T20 competition today.

Play got underway at 2pm.

Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

At the end of the six-over powerplay, the hosts were 52 for one. Dom Sibley was the man to go for 26 when he was caught by George Bartlett off the bowling of Kasey Aldridge with the score on 34.

Ned Leonard and George Drissell then reduced Warwickshire to 78 for three.

Matt Lamb and Kiel van  Vollenhoven added 40 for the fourth wicket until the latter was trapped lbw by Drissell.

Lamb went on to make 85 from 58 balls as the hosts posted a total of 176 for six from their 20 overs.

Somerset lost Ben Wells, Zen Malik and Sam Young early on and at the end of the powerplay the visitors were 32 for three. Ned Leonard top scored with 20 but only four other players made double figures as Somerset were dismissed for 90 with three overs remaining.

Somerset Second XI Coach, Greg Kennis named the following squad for the match: Kasey Aldridge, Sonny Baker George Bartlett, Jack Brooks, George Drissell, Sam Elstone, Ned Leonard, Zen Malik, Charlie Sharland, Ben Wells and Sam Young.
