Second XI Trophy: Tom Lammonby leads Somerset to victory
Tom Lammonby inspired Somerset Second XI to a comprehensive victory as they maintained their 100% start to their Trophy campaign against Unicorns at Falkland CC near Newbury.
Somerset won the toss and elected to bat.
After the early loss of Tom Banton with six on the board, Johann Myburgh and Peter Trego took the score to 70 before Myburgh was dismissed for 32.
Trego fell just three runs later and when Tim Rouse departed Somerset were 115 for four.
Tom Lammonby and Roelof van der Merwe then both made fifties and took the score to 218 before the Netherlands International was out for 66. His runs came off just 44 balls.
Lammonby went on to make an impressive 115 from just 107 balls but he eventually fell at 322 for six.
Fin Trenouth then made a swift half century as Somerset finished on 338 for eight from their 50 overs.
The Unicorns innings never really got going as the Somerset bowlers dominated their hosts.
Van der Merwe took three for 19 and Paul van Meekeren and Ollie Sale claimed two wickets each as the Unicorns were all out for 112 in 32 overs.
Somerset won the match by 226 runs.
