Somerset CCC to host BBC Somerset Wellington walk for Pudsey on Monday

BBC Somerset have announced Breakfast presenter Claire Carter’s 75-mile route in aid of BBC Children in Need and on Monday evening she will be stopping off at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

The challenge, which has been named ‘The Great Wellington Walk,’ will see Claire venture across the county, stopping by a number of towns and villages along the way.

BBC Somerset are calling on listeners and Somerset CCC supporters to follow Claire’s progress on the radio and online every day and show their support by joining the team in person for the Late, Late Breakfast Show each evening between 7pm and 10pm.

Claire will set off on her trek on Monday from Wellington School, and will make her way to Somerset County Cricket Club where BBC Somerset will be broadcasting the first Late, Late Breakfast Show of the week live on the night. Somerset supporters are being encouraged to attend the free event in the Long Room on Monday from 6:30pm which will also feature a silent disco. Club Captain Tom Abell will also be in attendance.

Ahead of The Great Wellington Walk, Claire said, “I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the walk already. I never thought so many people would care so much about my feet – but I’m really grateful for all the advice. I’m hoping to see as many people as possible every evening of the walk for our Late, Late Breakfast Show.”

Ahead of the challenge, Claire has endured some training with the Royal Navy to ensure that she is ready for her mammoth walk.
