Somerset County Cricket Club flies high with new airline partner bmi regional

Somerset County Cricket Club has announced a partnership deal with bmi regional that will encompass advertising, branding, promotions and hospitality.

As part of the agreement the airline, which has a hub at nearby Bristol airport and flies to seven destinations across Europe, has launched high visibility branding at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton. The branding has not only be in place during Somerset County Cricket Club matches, but was also present during this year’s International fixtures.

Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Officer of bmi regional, commented: “Bristol Airport is our largest UK hub so Somerset County Cricket Club is effectively our local team and we’re delighted to be able to support them. Somerset is one of the UK’s best loved cricket teams, with sell-out games attracting over 90,000 spectators across the season, so it also makes a lot of sense commercially to work with the club to get the bmi regional message across to local supporters.”

Somerset supporters are also set to benefit from this new partnership thanks to a forthcoming promotion which will see one supporter win a pair of return tickets for any flight on the bmi regional network.

Sarah Trunks, SCCC Head of Marketing and Communications, said: “We are delighted to be working with bmi regional. They have a number of high profile partnerships within the world of sport and we are excited to be a part of that network. To be able to offer free flights to a lucky Somerset supporter as part of this agreement is fantastic. More information on this special competition will be announced early next week.”

bmi regional and Somerset County Cricket Club’s partnership is the latest in a series of sports sponsorship deals for bmi regional. The airline is already working with Bath Rugby and Austria’s motorsports destination Projekt Spielberg, home to the Red Bull Ring and Austrian F1 Grand Prix.

bmi regional flies to Aberdeen, Paris, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Milan from Bristol, with fares starting from £69 one way. As well as a generous 23kg of hold baggage, bmi regional fares also include complimentary in-flight drinks and snacks, speedy 30-minute check-ins or online check-in and allocated leather seating.
