Somerset Disabled CC too strong for Dorset
Somerset Disabled Cricket Club notched up their second win of the season against their Dorset counterparts when the two sides met at the Convent Field, the home of Taunton Deane CC last week.
Batting first, Dorset scored 173 in 29.5 overs. The pick of the Somerset bowlers were John Tucker who took two for 25 from his 5.5 overs and Jack Milton with two for 35 from four, while there was a wicket each for Jamie Turner and Colin Hancock.
When Somerset replied they got off to a flying start thanks to their openers James Mayled, who made 53 off 47 balls before retiring, and Nick Dean who scored 50 off 38 before he also retired.
Eventually it was left up to Tucker, with an unbeaten 27, and James Redwood, with 14 not out, to see their side home to a comfortable victory in the 21st over.
This was another solid performance by the team and led to a well-deserved victory at their home ground. A good all-round effort by all players despite the uncomfortable weather conditions saw the team continue their winning streak against an improving Dorset.
The Somerset Disabled team is next in action on Sunday July 15th when they travel away to face Dorset again.
