Somerset v Gloucestershire - Rivalry Unleashed
August 11th 1879 saw the birth of something very special.
It was on that day at Clifton College that the first ever clash between Somerset and Gloucestershire began.
That day has lead to over 140 years and nearly 300 matches of intense sporting rivalry which comes to a head in 2020.
Some of the biggest names in the history of the game have starred for the two sides over the years with the likes of Botham, Richards, Trescothick, Gayle, Grace, Walsh and Muralitharan doing battle, but who will be making history this summer?
In 2020 the two bitter rivals will clash on no fewer than four occasions across 10 days and two formats to establish which county is the best in the West!
After a 13 year wait, Members and supporters will once again be able to see the two sides do battle in the County Championship after Gloucestershire regained their place back in the top flight for the first time since 2005.
There will also be two keenly contested T20 clashes between the two sides.
Somerset host their local rivals under the floodlights at the Cooper Associates County Ground in the opening Vitality Blast match of the season on Friday May 29th and although tickets only went on general sale on Monday there are less that 50% of tickets remaining!
The return fixture takes place at the Bristol County Ground on Sunday July 12th.
