Somerset Women finish season with local derby

Division Two T20 Champions Somerset are back in Royal London 50-over action again this weekend when they take on Devon at Wombat CC, Bishops Lydeard.

The match begins at 11am.

Ahead of the match Somerset Captain, Sophie Luff said: “It’s our last game of the season and it’s against local rivals Devon, so we’ll be eager to finish on a high. We’ve just come off the back of a very successful T20 campaign so hopefully we can take some of that momentum into this game, even if it is a different format.

“Wombat CC are hosting us for the first time and it’s great for the women’s game to play at different grounds around the county.

“We are missing two key players for the game in Lauren Filer and Lorraine Szczepanski, but it gives a couple of other young girls an opportunity. Lauren is actually representing the England Women’s Academy against Northants U15 boys on Sunday so I wish her the best of luck in that fixture. It’s great that Lauren’s performances this season have been recognised, and she rightly deserves an opportunity at that level.”

Somerset have named the following squad for the match: Sophie Luff *, Nicole Richards, Rebecca Odgers, Nat Wraith+, Niamh Holland, Emma Godman, Joleigh Roberts , Jodie Filer, Tilly Bond, Georgia Tulip, Hannah Capes, Jen Poole.

Refreshments, a bar and a barbecue will be available at Wombat CC on the day.
