Tom completes big week with two centuries for Devon
Tom Lammonby celebrated his appointment as captain of England Under 19s in their forthcoming series against South Africa by hitting a century for his native Devon on the opening day of their Minor County Championship match against Wales at Sandford.
Well supported by Zak Bess, Tom helped Devon post an impressive 476 for nine, in reply to which Wales ended on 37 for six.
After Devon were put in to bat, Tom walked to the wicket with the score on 28 for two and initially added 87 with former Somerset player James Burke, who made 56.
The 18-year-old was then joined by Bess, who spent a year at Taunton working as a Strength & Conditioning intern, and between them the pair added 165 before Tom was out for 102 off 133 balls in an innings that included 16 fours.
Tom then followed this up with 100 not out in Devon’s second innings.
Keith Donohue, Devon’s Director of Cricket, said: “This was Tom’s first hundred for Devon and a great way to end a week which saw named England U19 captain. I suspect he’s destined for bigger things in the game.”Back to News
