Trego Returns!

There will be a familiar and much-loved former player returning to the Cooper Associates County Ground this summer.

Somerset County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Peter Trego will be returning to the Club in an ambassadorial role ahead of the 2022 season.

His new role will see the popular former all-rounder undertaking presenting and commentary duties on the Club’s award-winning live streaming service, hosting Club events, visiting hospitality guests, and much more throughout the year.

Regarding his new role, Peter said: “It’s great to be back at the Cooper Associates County Ground. I spent 20 years here as a player and it’s most definitely my home from home. To come back to the Club in a totally new capacity is really exciting, and like all the supporters that we have around the world I can’t wait for April and the start of the season.”

Somerset CCC Commercial Director, Caroline Herbert added: “To have Peter onboard is a real coup for us. He will definitely add value to our matchday experience, and we are delighted that we will be able to utilise his skills for both cricket and non-cricket related events throughout the year.

“He is extremely popular with our Members and supporters and he will certainly bring a fresh perspective to our presentation team.”

Peter first appeared for the Somerset Second XI as a 16-year-old and went on to make his senior debut in a 40-over Sunday League game at Bath in June 2000.

He is Somerset’s second highest ever run scorer in T20 cricket with 3273 runs, whilst he has 50 wickets in the format for the County. He is also third in the Club’s all-time list of century makers in List A cricket having reached three-figures on no fewer than 10 occasions.
