Trescothick portrait honours Member donations
Those walking past the Cooper Associates County Ground or parking in the venue’s St James Street carpark can’t fail to have noticed a new addition to the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion.
A new portrait of Marcus now adorns the wall of the pavilion that bears his name.
What makes this particular portrait so special is that it comprises the names of all those who so kindly and generously donated their Membership to the Club in 2020.
After seeing the portrait, Marcus said: “I’ve said before that it is a tremendous honour to have my name associated with the newest pavilion at the Cooper Associates County Ground. In many ways, this picture is even more special. Every name that appears on that picture deserves to have their name displayed at the Ground.
“For so many people to have donated to the Club is genuinely incredible. Myself and everyone associated with Somerset Cricket have been sincerely moved by how many people showed their support during what was a turbulent 2020. I can’t thank those people enough and it is an honour to have their names forever linked to the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion.”
Somerset CEO, Gordon Hollins said: “It is fitting that those people who helped to support the Club when it was most needed should be forever linked to one of the finest players that this Club, and indeed this country, has ever produced. We can never thank our loyal Members enough for that support, but trust that this will be seen as a fitting tribute to them.
“Marcus himself has moved on to national duties and we look forward to welcoming him back later this year for the official unveiling of the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion.”Back to News
