Who We Are
We Are Somerset! Somerset County Cricket Club: one of the most successful first-class county cricket clubs of the past 10 years. Deeply rooted in our community since 1875, with a rich reputation for developing talent from across the region. Yet our vision stretches far beyond the local: we have global reach, with circa 900,000 social media followers from around the world and bold ambitions for success on the international field.
Our enviable facilities at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton, compliment the outstanding commercial opportunities our sporting profile presents. We are a 365-day venue: alongside hosting 50 days of cricket each year, we deliver numerous non-cricket related events, conferences, concerts and weddings, to name a few, with the determination to make our ground the primary sporting and business destination in the south-west.
We’re entering an exciting time at SCCC – the Covid-19 pandemic has required us to review our strategy and develop future plans to take the Club to new heights on and off the field. We are in a strong position to grow and achieve our ambitious goals which have ‘cricket at the heart and business on the mind’.
Are you, as a minimum, ECB Level 3 qualified (or equivalent)? Are you passionate about developing players’ individual and team performance to world-class standards? Have you demonstrable specialist batting coaching experience? Would you like to be part of an inclusive, committed and aspirational team?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then we would love to hear from you.
A high-profile, exciting opportunity for a Batting and Assistant Coach has arisen at Somerset County Cricket Club. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding and interest in fostering the mental and technical skills required to become a world class batter, alongside a proven track record in successful coaching. A significant part of your role will be to mentor players to develop game awareness strategies. You’ll also work collaboratively with the Performance Sports Psychologist to develop and implement holistic individual player programmes. We need you to provide specialist batting coaching and support to a range of senior professional and elite Pathway Cricket players ensuring the Club’s philosophy is delivered from grass roots through to the 1st Class arena.
You will work closely with our Head Coach and Head of Talent Pathway, alongside our multidisciplinary coaching and support team. Collaboratively, this team will establish a highly selective, intensive player development programme.
At Somerset we are proud of our highly aspirational and supportive teams. We are committed to continually progress and evolve ourselves to be the best we can. You will contribute to our success by collaboratively creating and enhancing our environment enabling our players to fulfil their individual promise and strengthen the team’s performance.
We need you to have a flexible approach to working irregular working patterns, including domestic travel away with the professional squad during the season and potential overseas pre-season travel. You must also be eligible to work in the UK.
You will usually be based at Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton, but may be required to work elsewhere when necessary.
