The two sides have met 22 times in T20 cricket. Somerset have won on six occasions, Kent have won 13 times and three matches have been abandoned.

The highest team total in the series for Somerset is 226 for five at Canterbury in 2018, while for Kent it is 231 for five in the same match.

The highest individual innings for Somerset is the 151 not out by Chris Gayle at Taunton in 2015, while for Kent it is 114 by Sam Northeast in the same game.

The best bowling for Somerset is four for 15 by Kieron Pollard at Beckenham in 2010, while for Kent it is five for 11 by Adam Milne at the Cooper Associates County Ground in 2017.

The last time the two sides met in the Vitality Blast was last month when Somerset came away from the Spitfire Ground, Canterbury with a win by eight wickets.

Kent won the toss and batted first.

Despite 72 from 43 balls from Jack Leaning, the Somerset bowlers limited the hosts to 162 for six. Lewis Gregory was the pick of the attack, claiming three for 25.

Despite losing both openers, Rilee Rossouw (81 from 54 balls) and Tom Abell (48 from 29) shared a stand of 121 to ease the visitors to a comprehensive victory.

Craig Overton is available for selection but Jack Leach is with England.

Head Coach, Jason Kerr has named the following squad: Tom Abell (c), Tom Banton, George Bartlett, Jack Brooks, Josh Davey, Marchant de Lange, Lewis Goldsworthy, Ben Green, Lewis Gregory, Tom Lammonby, Craig Overton, Rilee Rossouw, Peter Siddle, Will Smeed and Roelof van der Merwe.

On the morning of the game, Jason said: “What last night’s win in Bristol demonstrated was the amount of belief that’s in the side. At the half way stage of both innings we were struggling. We didn’t bowl well to start with and we were pretty reckless with the bat, but we bowled fantastically well at the conclusion of the Gloucestershire innings and what can you say about Roelof’s innings? His partnership with JD got s over the line. It demonstrates the depth of talent and the will to win that’s in the side. Hopefully, the result will give us good momentum as we go into tonight’s game with Kent.

“Kent are a strong white-ball side and they’ve been on the wrong end of a few results this season. They’re the current champions so we certainly won’t be underestimating them. We’ve had some well documented battles with them over the years and we had a good victory at their place recently, so hopefully we can build on that and keep our good run going.”
