2018 in Pictures: Five-Wicket Hauls
As we continue to look back on the 2018 season it is time to turn our attention to the players who claimed five-wicket hauls during the campaign.
Four Somerset players took a total of six five-wicket hauls in 2018 and here they are:
On August 1st Jerome Taylor became only the third Somerset bowler to take five wickets in a T20 match when his five for 15 helped Somerset to a 16 run win over Hampshire in the Vitality Blast at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
In August Jack Leach claimed a career best of eight for 85 in the Essex second innings as Somerset secured a 45 run win in the Specsavers County Championship at the Cooper Associates County Ground. He finished with match figures of 10 for 112.
Jamie Overton matched Jerome Taylor’s earlier exploits and became the fourth Somerset bowler to take five wickets in a T20 match when his five for 47 helped his side to a dramatic 19-run win over Notts Outlaws in the Vitality Blast quarter-final.
Josh Davey claimed his first five-wicket haul for the County when he took five for 65 against Yorkshire at Emerald Headingley. Somerset went on to win the match by 224 runs.
At the beginning of September, Jack Leach was again to the fore and he took five for 28 in Lancashire’s first innings and seven for 74 in their second innings as a memorable match ended in a remarkable tie.
