Craig called up to England ODI squad

Craig Overton has been called up from the Lions to join England’s squad for the final two Royal London ODIs against Australia.

He is joined by Surrey’s Sam Curran and both players will travel to Chester-le-Street today and will be available for selection on Thursday at Emirates Riverside and for the final match of the series at Emirates Old Trafford on Sunday, providing additional fast-bowling options.

Both had been in the England Lions squad for the Tri-Series against India ‘A’ and West Indies ‘A’ which starts at the 3aaa County Ground in Derby on Friday.

Sussex’s Chris Jordan has therefore been added to the Lions squad, and will be available for the first two matches of the Tri-Series in Derby against India ‘A’ on Friday June 22 and West Indies ‘A’ the following day.

Craig will then rejoin the Lions next week and will be available to play the remaining matches of the Tri-Series.

Amended Lions squad:

Nick Gubbins (Middlesex)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Yorkshire)

Sam Hain (Warwickshire)

Liam Livingstone (Lancashire)

Steven Mullaney (Nottinghamshire, captain)

Ben Foakes (Surrey, wk)

Liam Dawson (Hampshire)

Matthew Parkinson (Lancashire)

Matthew Fisher (Yorkshire)

Reece Topley (Hampshire)

Tom Helm (Middlesex)

Chris Jordan (Sussex)

*Craig Overton (Somerset) to replace Jordan after the first two matches of the series.
