Hat-Trick for Tom at End of Season Dinner

Somerset CCC Club Captain, Tom Abell scooped a hat-trick of awards at the End of Season Dinner on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old picked up the White-Ball Player of the Year, Supporters’ Player of the Year and the Player of the Season awards at the event, which was held in the County Room at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

The evening was officially opened by Somerset CEO, Gordon Hollins, who welcomed those present and thanked them for their continued support.

Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry then made presentations to Eddie Byrom and Sam Young, who are leaving the Club this winter, before giving his thoughts on the 2021 season and the role that everyone within the Club has played.

Following a candid interview, Head Coach, Jason Kerr presented the first award of the night. The Champagne Moment Award went to Tom Lammonby for his 90 from 36 balls against Gloucestershire in this Year’s Vitality Blast.

Head of the Talent Pathway, Steve Snell was then joined on stage by Lloyd Alley from Kukri to present the Tom Pearce Award for The Young Player of the Year to Lewis Goldsworthy.

Tom Abell was then presented with his Supporters’ Player of the Year trophy by Stephen Friend from St Austell Brewery.

Following the main course, Somerset’s three captains; Tom Abell, Lewis Gregory and Ben Green took part in an entertaining question and answer session.

Abell then fought off stiff competition to collect the White-Ball Player of the Year trophy from Charlie Rowe from Trade Nation.

Craig Overton received the County Championship Player of the Year prize from Mark Southern of WPA Health Insurance.

Andy Hurry then returned to the stage to announce the 2021 Player of the Season award, which was presented to Tom by Tony Harvey from Suave Owl.

Gordon Hollins then officially brought the awards element of the evening to a close, before the Haus Band performed into the night.
