Impressive start for Eddie in Australia
Eddie Byrom has made the perfect start to his winter.
The 22-year-old is spending the next few months in Australia playing Grade Cricket for Fremantle and he couldn’t have hoped for a better debut.
Fremantle traveled to take on Midland-Guildford this weekend and after winning the toss the visitors elected to bat.
Eddie came to the crease with his side on 25 for one and the left-hander remained in the middle for nearly 300 minutes, during which time he played a fine innings to help his side reach 369 for nine.
Eddie’s outstanding knock of 150 came from 206 balls and included 18 fours.
Eddie, who recently signed a new two-year contract with Somerset, graduated from the SCCC Academy in 2016 and made his debut at Hampshire in the 2017 County Championship. Since then he has gone on to play 21 First Class games, scoring over 1100 runs with a best of 152.
He made his first Vitality Blast appearance for the Club this season and made an immediate impact by scoring 54 not out from just 19 balls against Surrey at the Cooper Associates County Ground. He went on to feature in a further eight matches in the competition, scoring over 180 runs at a strike rate of 196.80.
