Injury Update: Peter Siddle

Somerset’s overseas bowler Peter Siddle suffered a hand injury in the recent Vitality Blast against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

The former Australia international sustained the injury to his right hand whilst attempting to secure a return catch off his own bowling.

SCCC Head of Science & Medicine, Jamie Thorpe had this to say about the seamer when we spoke to him earlier today.

“Following the incident, we removed Peter from the field of play so that he could be assessed by the medical team and treated for the obvious wound that he had sustained. He was seen by a specialist the next day and further investigations confirmed the presence of a finger fracture.

“Due to the nature of the injury, Peter will be unavailable for selection while he gives the fracture the appropriate time to heal. We will seek to keep our Member’s and supporters updated as more information becomes available.”
