Jack Leach makes Test match Debut - Reaction

It was another proud day for Somerset County Cricket Club as left-arm spinner Jack Leach was named in England’s XI to face New Zealand at Christchurch. Leach joins Craig Overton in representing England this winter and was presented his cap shortly before play by Graeme Swann.

Despite a tricky day for the tourists, Jonny Bairstow led the fightback with a fine 97 not out. Leach walked out to bat for the first time in Test cricket with the score 259/8 and provided excellent support for Bairstow. He faced 33 balls and finished the day 10 not out, with England closing 290/8.
