Jason Kerr: 25 Years at Somerset County Cricket Club

Somerset’s newly appointed Head Coach Jason Kerr is hugely excited as he starts to undertake his new role at the Club.

During an in-depth video interview (which can be viewed in its entirety below) the former player discussed his 25 year association with the Club and expressed his delight at taking up his new role. “I am so excited by what we have got here already,” he said. “If we can compliment that with a world class overseas then who know what can happen?”

Regarding renewing his acquaintance with Andy Hurry the new Director of Cricket Jason said: “Andy understands the Club and that is really important. This is a unique Club and we are incredibly well supported. It’s as close to football passion as you will get. It’s hard to explain but I remind the guys quite often how lucky they are to play in front of so many people, day in day out.

“Andy understands that, he knows the Club culture and was part of the fabric here for many years. We almost got over the finishing line when he was here so we’ve got some unfinished business. From what I can see, his appointment has been received really well.”

Jason talked about what Somerset CCC has come to mean to him. “The reason I’m so excited is that I love this place,” he said. “I’m fortunate that I’m one of the people who goes to work with a smile on their face everyday.”

Jason added: “There will be different challenges ahead for me now but I know where this Club wants to go, I know what the vision is for the Club and 100% I buy into that!”
