Josh reflects on career best
Josh Davey claimed career best figures of five for 21 in the Yorkshire second innings to help Somerset secure a 298-run victory in this week’s Specsavers County Championship match at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
Earlier in the game the 29-year-old had taken three for 30 to give him match figures of eight for 51, another career best.
Reflecting on his performance Josh said: “It was very pleasing to be able to contribute personally to the team performance, and to get the win on the board was just a great feeling.
“The surface had a bit for both pace and spin, so you always felt in the game. It was just about being relentless enough, holding that length and being patient.
“We bowled well together, kept on building pressure and kept the ball in the right areas. That’s how we got our rewards.
“We’ve got a quality set of seamers and competition for places in the team is very keen. I think that drives the standards upwards. The guys in the side have been bowling brilliantly and luckily I was the one who managed to get a few wickets against Yorkshire.
“I’m happy to get into the side in whatever way I can. My opportunity has come about more with the ball and I’m just over the moon to be able to contribute to us getting a win.
“Personally, it’s really nice to be able to put my hand up and get wickets like I have in this game and give the selectors a few headaches.”Back to News
