Max and Josh presented with their County Caps

Before our recent Vitality Blast clash against Gloucestershire, Max Waller and Josh Davey were presented with their County Caps by Club Captain, Tom Abell.

Max Waller has represented the Club on more than 200 occasions since making his List A, T20 and County Championship debuts in 2009. He has taken a total of 198 wickets for the Club and has been a consistently important member of the team in T20 cricket for over 12 seasons.

Alongside his world class dynamic fielding ability, he has taken 137 T20 wickets, a joint Club T20 record.

After receiving his cap, Max said: “It was a very proud moment for me and it really means a lot. It was nice to be able to share it with my family because they’ve been there for me for the duration of my career.

“I’ve been here since I was 11 years old, so this was very special. During that time I’ve got to know the Members and fans and all the people around the ground. The Club has a real family feel to it and I love playing for Somerset.”

Josh Davey made his First Class debut for Somerset in May 2015, with his first County Championship appearance coming in April 2016.

He has represented the Club across all three formats of the game, making his List A debut in August 2015 and his T20 debut in July 2016. Within that time, he has taken 118 First Class wickets and 60 white ball wickets.

His performance with the ball during the Royal London One-Day Cup final in 2019 helped the Club secure a resounding victory over Hampshire at Lords.

Regarding his cap, Josh said: “It’s a great honour. It’s been a long journey, and to get this recognition from the Club is very pleasing. It was very special to have my family there because it’s not just me that’s got me to this point. I remember my parents driving down little country lanes in Norfolk and Suffolk every Sunday afternoon when I was 12 looking for the various clubs we were supposed to be playing at.

“To have my name on the same list as some of the world greats is a very proud moment.

“The Somerset crowd are second to none. They’re the best in the country. To have their recognition and for them to get behind me is very special.”
