After six matches in the South Group Hampshire sit fourth in the table with seven points whilst Somerset are fifth with six points from our six matches.

You can follow the match via the Match Centre section of this website and live updates will be posted on our Twitter page.

In addition a report on the day’s play along with quotes will be posted after the close.

Somerset and Hampshire have faced each other on 13 occasions in T20 cricket. Somerset currently have the upper hand having won seven matches to Hampshire’s five. There has also been one abandonment.

The teams met twice last season with each winning their home fixture.

At Taunton on June 16th Hampshire were bowled out for 133 in 18.3 overs after being put into bat, thanks to four for 22 from Jamie Overton and four for 35 from Max Waller.

In reply the hosts reached 136 for four in 15.4 overs, of which Chris Gayle contributed 52 from 39 balls, whilst Mahela Jayawardene remained unbeaten on 45 from 32 balls.

The return game at the Ageas Bowl on July 29th saw Hampshire batting first and scoring 181 for three. Tom Alsop made 85 off 57 deliveries and debutant Jake Goodwin made 32.

When Somerset replied they were bowled out for 98 in 15.2 overs, of which skipper Jim Allenby hit 40 off 29.

Ahead of the game captain Jim Allenby said: “It was a fantastic win for us on Sunday and built on from the game we played against them up there.

“It shows that things are starting to work and we are seeing a lot of improvements. The important thing for me is to see us getting better each game and individuals getting better. Every game we are getting stronger and getting more clarity in what we are trying to do.

“Hampshire are another good side in this group and they have also got a lot of international players. They had a good win against us in the 50 over comp and have got quality all the way through so we are going to have to be at our best.

“However, at home we certainly feel confident and if we keep playing in the manner we have been and maintain it then I have no doubt that we will be okay. If we can maintain our consistency then I’m confident that it will be another good day for us.”
