2019 was an incredible year for the Club and next season promises to provide another action-packed summer of entertainment.

Cricket is scheduled throughout the height of summer with Somerset taking to the field at the Cooper Associates County Ground in all three formats during June and July.

Somerset will begin the defence of the Royal London Cup at Warwickshire on July 20th before travelling to Guildford to take on Surrey six days later. That’s a venue that is close to Somerset supporter’s hearts following Justin Langer’s triple hundred there in 2006.

Somerset then welcome Glamorgan to the Cooper Associates County Ground before Derbyshire visit Taunton for the first time in the competition since 2015. A home fixture against Leicestershire is sandwiched between trips to Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, whilst Yorkshire are the visitors for the final group match on August the 9th.

All four of Somerset’s Royal London Cup home group matches fall in the school holidays, so this is the perfect chance for all the family to enjoy elite sporting action right on their doorstep!

Somerset came within a whisker of claiming a maiden County Championship title in 2019 and the quest for crickets Holy Grail will begin on Easter Sunday, April 12th when we welcome 2012 champions Warwickshire to Taunton.

Local rivals Gloucestershire have returned to Division One of the County Championship and the two sides will clash in First Class cricket for the first time since 2007. The Brightside Ground, Bristol will see the two West Country sides do battle on Friday May 5th with the return fixture taking place in Taunton on Sunday June 14th.

Current Champions Essex pipped Somerset to the post last year and the two sides will go head to head at the Cloudfm County Ground on Sunday July 5th with the meeting between the two sides at the Cooper Associates County Ground scheduled for Sunday August 23rd.

Somerset Members and supporters will also be buoyed by the fact that 12 County Championship match days fall on weekends or bank holidays.

The new state of the art floodlights at the Cooper Associates County Ground took the Vitality Blast to the next level this year and next season promises to be another explosive mix of razzmatazz and world class sporting action.

Somerset supporters couldn’t hope for a better start to this year’s Blast as Gloucestershire make the short trip down the M5 on May 29th. Local bragging rights will be at stake under floodlights; it doesn’t get any better than that!

Vitality Blast winners Essex Eagles come to Taunton on June 7th whilst we also take on Surrey, Hampshire, Kent and Glamorgan. Somerset will also be looking for revenge against Middlesex after the side from Lord’s claimed a quarter-final place in 2019 following a dramatic encounter at Taunton in August.

The Cooper Associates County Ground is delighted to be playing host to a four-day Tourist match between England Lions and the West Indies, beginning on Friday May 22nd. Make sure you don’t miss out on the chance to see some of English crickets brightest rising stars take on a proud cricketing nation that has more than one link to the County.

Several Somerset players were selected to play in The Hundred this summer with Tom Banton leading the charge for Welsh Fire. He will line up alongside Australian superstars Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc plus England’s Jonny Bairstow.

The Women’s Hundred is heading to Taunton as Welsh Fire take on Southern Brave on Sunday August 2nd. Australian Captain, Meg Lanning will spearhead the Welsh Fire’s batting line up and this match up will see her come up against former Somerset and Western Storm star Anya Shrubsole!
